Energy Independence is an economic, security and environmental problem that can only be solved through the cooperation of all three interests. We must do everything possible to relieve the budget-crippling pain American families are feeling every day at the gas pump and right now Paul Hodes is standing in the way.
In Congress, I will fight to: (1) Drill now to access our own natural resources; (2) Begin to build new refineries in the United States; (3) Lift the moratorium against nuclear power plants; (4) Pursue all viable alternative fuel sources; and (5) apply the most contemporary technologies available. But we also understand there will be no one magic answer – energy independence will come by applying various alternatives where they make the most sense.
Ultimately, there must be market driven solutions if they are to succeed long term.
