Back to the North Country!

Another fantastic visit to the North Country - this time it was raining instead of snowing but the folks in Littleton, Whitefield, Colebrook, North Statford and Pittsburg were as warm as ever.

We enjoyed visits with former House Speaker Harold Burns, Coos County Commissioner Bing Judd, Coos County GOP Chairman Scott Mason and Executive Councilor Ray Burton.  We were invited to attend one of Councilor Burton's events which was very well attended by folks who are concerned about the rising oil prices, home mortgages and the continued reckless spending of Congress.

In spite of the downpour we enjoyed a stroll down Main St. visiting business owners and meeting shoppers.  Did you  know that Littleton is home to the world's longest candy counter?  Of course a bag of goodies found its way into my hands!

I stopped by Northwinds Farm to talk to Scott Mason about the challenges his business - and so many others - are facing as they try to survive the challenges of the day - oil prices, over-regulation by government agencies and of course, a tax rate that is beginning to cripple many small businesses.

Every time I speak with hardworking folks like Scott I am both encouraged by their determination to succeed and impressed by their committment.

Overall, we had a wonderful and informative trip to the North Country.  Our campaign gained supporters and I got to listen to how Congress can better serve those in the North Country.  I can't wait to go back!
